The Day We Tried To Avoid.

Thanks to all who ever visited the blog. We are sorry to say that because of the thoughtless and cowardly actions of Tom Vinson, Brian Bullock, Jon Littlepage, Chris Faith, and Clint Ray, the blog can no longer continue. All we asked of these gentlemen was for 1 lousy post. They had nearly 2 months to do this. All that it would have taken to save The Revolting Blog was 1 silly post from each "writer". "Hi, my name is Tom (or whoever)". That would have counted as a post. These 5 guys proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that either a) they don't even read the blog they claim to write for, or b) they just don't give a damn. Wherever the truth lies, we may never know. I will tell you that if they are willing, I will start to generate ideas for a new blog with the other 3 writers who did have an interest in saving this thing. As for now, TRB is closing up shop. I am wiping out the writing priveleges for all writers except myself. I will post an update with a link to our "new and improved" blog whenever we decide what to call it and I can design it. That's the only reason I'm leaving my own priveleges up for the time being. Thanks for being a part of a great run. We will take out the trash and have a new blog up soon. Peace!!

Apparently Rick told Sypher the reason he failed in the NBA was the 24 second clock didn't allow him enough time to get up two shots in a possesion.

Today's "Daily Dis'" is gonna be short and sweet. I would just briefly like to weigh in on one of my pet peeves and that is people that have no idea how to drive effeciently on a multi lane highway. It never fails when I am driving through the wide open spaces of this great land that there will be someone driving in the left lane going slower than the folks driving in the right. I just wish I were a Trooper so I could pull these people over and write them a ticket. There are signs all over the highway that say "Keep Right Except to Pass". So all you non-drivers out there consider yourself dissed!!!

I am no historian or statistician for stats I go to Boner Bunch. Having said that I would like to weigh in with the Daily Dis' which will be directed at the lowly writers of this blog.

I know you are thinking how does Ho have a right to call out the other bloggers when he hasn't posted anything in forever either but guess what I'm gonna do it anyway. First off I will give Black Bob a free pass as his wife has just birthed a child and we all know how tiring that can be. Deh Beh and JV have gone above and beyond the call (well as compared to the rest of us anyway) so they are off the hit list as well. Tom Vinson however must have fallen off the face of Sacramento cause the last time he posted something he chiselled it into stone and Moses read it on Mount Sinai. As I write I recall recruiting some of these deadbeats personally as a way to deter some of the attention away from myself but we see how that worked out.

Sizzlin' will also get a lighter sentence because he moved out of his home where his lovely wife resides to live on the mean streets of Graham in a cardboard box without internet. Chris Faith was once a legend back in our younger years when all the ladies attacked our entourage in effort to get an opportunity just to touch his hand which is said to have some sort of magical powers but now he is lazy and Andrea Garst has assumed all his duties for the rest of his life. TRB is in an intense negotiation with Garst to have her replace Faith but she is demanding a one night fling with Deh and he is refusing to bathe.

The last two writers I alone have credit for bringing to the staff and all I can say is I have always been and continue to be a poor judge of character. I have always surrounded myself with people of low moral standards and some things never change. And that TRB fans is your "Daily Dis'"!

Side note: I did not proofread or use spell check cause my wife is on my buttocks to do chores.

I am starting a new segment for the final days of TRB. You already know the name because it's in the title. So to elaborate just a little this is going to be a place where I vent some of my frustration. This column is meant to be of the daily variety but if you have ever stopped by here before you know that the only thing we writers do on a daily basis is sit on the pot.

So here goes the daily dis and the lucky subject of today's dis are the fans TRB. Yeah you got all you low down fans that have sucked the life out our staff's creativity for the past several months are gonna get slammed today. Our fans are the worst in history when we are writing daily and doing our thing then we never hear anything out of you not even a quick pat on the back to fuel our enormously large egos so that we keep pressing on. But let us go 6-8 months without posting something and there is a public outcry to have our heads severed from our torso. So for that you fans suck! Out of all of the millions of bags of fan mail I receive daily only one fan has taken the time to approach me personally and say "keep up the good work man and I will start posting comments". C. Red you are the TRB "Fan of the Decade"! The rest of you fans are so pitiful that you can't even visit often enough to get this damn thing shut down.

I guess we will all be covering the Sypher trial next week because that girl fellates everything in sight apparently!

Back on July 15, this 10 pound whopper of a Bullock came into this world. I have given Brian nearly 2 weeks to announce his arrival to the masses of Revolting readers, but he has not. So, I'm doing it for him. I know how busy life can be when you have a new arrival. I also know how much Brian wants to save the blog, so I'm confident we will have an update on this young sumo wrestler in training within the coming days. 10 pounds!!!!!! Crystal is a helluva woman. Actually she had a c-section and Brian says that baby and momma are both doing well. I still say she is a helluva woman. Congrats to the Bullock's, just one of many Ohio families told to "stick it" by King James.

Sometimes You Just Can't Win

We are coming ever so close to the end of an era. As I type this, we are 313 site hits away from closing this bad boy down. Back on June 4th, my sister Brooke's birthday(an irrelevant fact, but a fact nonetheless), I issued a challenge to the blog writers. Write one post between then and the site's 10,000th visitor. That has ended up giving them almost a full 2 months. So far we have had posts from Sizzlin Shane, Deh Beh, and myself. No Tom Vinson, no Jon Littlepage (not surprising), no Clint Ray, no Brian Bullock, no Faith, and the biggest surprise of them all, no Ho. I would have thought we would get at least one QOD. It doesn't even have to make sense. All these highly recruited writers have to do is make a post. It could be titled "hi", with a post of a smiley face or something. That's all it would take to keep the blog alive. Of course we would love to have great stuff like "Ask Cooper Ray", "I hate McDonalds double drive thru", "Nick Saban is my lover", or the aforementioned QOD. These guys have the ability. That's why they were brought on board. They don't, however, have the desire. That's what we've all lost. I've lost it too, and that's why I kinda hope that they don't post and the blog can just come to an end. I'm pretty confident that my wishes will come true. I'm fairly confident that half of the guys don't even visit the blog anymore. That's sad on many levels, but mainly by not visiting they are just prolonging the inevitable. Keep one thing in mind folks: Every time you visit this blog you are driving the knife just a little bit deeper. Thanks for coming. 10,000. I'm predicting a closing. Can the staff step up? You already know the answer.

After all, I did create this blog and name it after one of the most notorious villains of all time.

Hell, one of my best friends is The Villain.

I loved the most vicious villains in the history of our sport, the nWo.

And those are just a few of the reasons that I'm now a big Miami Heat fan. I love villains. I can't help it. Just like Hollywood Hogan shocked the world back in 1996 with his unexpected heel turn, Lebron James told the fans of Cleveland to stick it, and he surprisingly joined forces with the evil "Big Sexy" Bosh and "The Bad Guy" "Razor" Wade. Actually that's not how it went down, but Lebron sure is getting credit for being the bad guy in all of this. Is it Lebron's fault that the Cavs never got him a star sidekick? He was there 7 years. They had time. So many people keep saying that the "great ones" don't switch teams, the "competitors" don't jump ship. That's a bunch of crap. The game has changed since Larry and Magic came in. Plus, look at what they came in to anyway. Magic was immediately on a great team. In Los Angeles, one of the biggest markets in the world. Larry was immediately on a great team. In Boston, one of the biggest markets in the world. They were both on storied teams with stars surrounding them. If the Cavs were as loaded as those Laker and Celtic teams, I feel pretty confident that Lebron would still be calling Cleveland his home. Michael was drafted by the Bulls. Chicago is one of the biggest markets in the world. He had some pretty darn good players around him, including one of the best in the world at the time, Mr. Pippen. Michael didn't have it as good as Larry and Magic from the beginning, but he had it pretty good after 5 or 6 years in the league and he could see that the Bulls were going places. Kobe went to the Lakers. WITH SHAQ!!!!!! Shaq was the most dominant force in the world at the time. Kobe now has Gasol, Artest, etc. Not to mention the fact that Kobe is the best player in the world today (sorry King James). Kobe has the luxury of his only team being a storied franchise in a major market with an organization which is willing to surround him with the necessary talent to win. Remember, just a few years ago Kobe was ready to leave the Lakers in a quest for more titles. Tim Duncan came into the league in a nearly perfect situation. He had David Robinson. Then he had Manu Ginobili, as well as several other star players, such as Keith Bogans and Nazr Mohammed. The point is this. Lebron is 25. The Cavs are pretty much as good as they are ever gonna be, and that ain't good enough to win it. They've had 7 years to convince Lebron that they were savvy enough to win it all. They couldn't convince him. Why is he such a bad guy for wanting to join his buddies and try to win it all? In a sports world today where we constantly criticize players for taking the money, now we decide to criticize the guys who took less money in a quest to win it all? Make up your minds people. Hate the Heat. Hate Lebron. Hate D Wade. Hate Big Sexy Bosh. I'm gonna go against the grain and announce my Miami Heat love right now. I've never been a big fan of a particular NBA team. I've always just kinda liked teams that have former Cats, and I always love the superstars. I loved the Bulls while they had Michael, but I've pretty much been bandwagon since then. Now I'm jumping on the Heat bandwagon, and apparently I'm the only person outside of Miami that wants a seat on that wagon. I like it that way. Go Lebron!! Go Heat!! Rant over.

I played this game and I am ashamed of my score. It is a game where you get put on the clock and have 7 minutes to guess every UK player during the 2000's. You only have to enter the last name and it gives you the credit for a correct guess and you can see the answers listed below where you enter the names. I'm gonna give you one answer that I somehow missed. It is hard to believe that I didn't get one of my all time favorite Cats, Jodie Meeks, but when you're on the clock and working the back sections of your brain trying to think of former walkons like Matt Scherbenske, you lose thought of some of the big timers. There, I gave you 2 answers. For the record, the player doesn't have to have ever scored a point or even played in a game. He just has to have been part of a roster. Maddie and I rented this hog last Thursday and cruised the strip all day long. We got the trike because I figured it would be easier to balance with the youngster. Plus they said she could ride in front of me on it. Several hot babes tried to push Maddie off and get on this fine piece of machinery with me. Luckily Maddie is pretty fiesty and was able to fight them off. This thing was actually pretty cool and they reduced the prices on all the scooter and golf cart rentals because of the tourist numbers being down and the fear that they soon won't be making any money. I guess they wanna rent them out while they can. We got it for $42. That's not a lie Bunch. It was a fun day.

Cole already had a slew of Cobb autographs and I wanted my picture made with him so I got him to autograph Cole's jersey. I originally asked him to autograph my boob, but he refused.

The Cat remembered Bunch from his near death year of 1996. The Cat asked for a picture with this miracle of modern medicine. For those who don't know, we saw Mark Pope in the Wildcat Lodge parking lot before the 1995-1996 Midnight Madness and told him that our buddy was dying and Pope proudly said they would dedicate the season to the ailing Deh Beh. Of course they went on to win it all. Bunch lived to see it. That story has been told on here before, but all of you may not have read it. Also, Pope graciously autographed a Double (deh beh) Cola bottle for Bunch. I think Pope would have done just about anything we asked him to do because he was scared that Kendall would try to spray puke at his family again. I'm not telling that story today.

TRB To Close Up Shop!!!!!!!!! Or Maybe Not

This blog has gone down the toilet lately. I'm as much to blame as the other writers but I'm the founder and CEO so I get to do the dissin. We are somewhere around 8450 visitors since I first adopted the Revolting Visitor Counter that you see over to the right of your screen. If we don't see a post by each and every one of our esteemed staff by the time we reach 10,000, I'm closing the blog forever. Now reaching 10,000 might take 6 months if the regulars are as pissed as they should be by the lack of posts. However, as Ho and I have pointed out many times, we would write more if folks would comment more. There's nothing more demoralizing than writing something and then wondering if anybody ever read it. I don't even care if you comment just to tell me how stupid my post is. Just let me know you care in some way. We are very high maintenance bloggers around here and we need your feedback. I will follow this with a few of my recent thoughts. And yes, I will someday get around to posting my top 10 alltime favorite blog posts. I've been reading back through the old stuff and it takes a while. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the blog's history and I've written down about 17 posts so it's taking a while and after I get done I'm still gonna have to eliminate several favorites.

-The Lakers will win the title. Why? Because they have Kobe. That's pretty much the reason.

-If you think Lebron is the best basketball player in the world, watch Kobe. I love Lebron. He likes the Cats, so I have to love him. Kobe wins titles. Kobe doesn't let his team lose. Lebron didn't carry his team like Kobe will carry the Lakers. I like Lebron more than I like Kobe. Lebron is a GREAT player. He's a nice and likable guy. He will win you a lot of games. Kobe is a GREAT player. Kobe is an assassin. He will win you championships.

-Ho turned 29 for the 5th time last week. Congrats to the villain.

-Clint Ray is missing 2 balls. If you happen to run across a pair just laying around, let him know.

-I get all of my Clint Ray ball information from Ho. I don't know where he gets it.

-I entered the KSR "Who Wants To Be A Blogger" contest. There were 296 original entrants. The esteemed staff of KSR will widdle those down to a top 20, which I fully expect to not be a part of. I will keep you updated though just in case I make it. The blog I submitted was not one of my best works. I was bored at work the other night and 20 minutes before the deadline to enter I came up with a very mediocre, but decent, post. I submitted it. We will see. I also included a pic of Jenny and Julie doing the Wall dance with Drew Franklin's dad, aka Chism's Daddy. That can only help.

-I'm gonna do my best to post at least a few times a week. I hope the other bloggers will too. It would be a shame to see TRB go down in flames. Have a great weekend!!!!!!

My Girls Are Growing Up Too Fast

The female blog readers always request some non sports stuff so here ya go. My 2 daughters are growing up way too fast for my liking. Aubrey has started crawling everywhere and pulling up to stuff and trying to walk. Maddie is in the first grade and thinks she's in the tenth. She has a secret crush on Cole "little bash" Vincent. Say anything about it to her and she gets really mad and defensive. Clay says Cole is the same way. It started out with Kam and Gav, which worried me enough. Now she's moved on to a Vincent. What's next?????

Top 10 College Basketball Recruits For 2010 (in my opinion of course)

The final rankings for 2010 recruits have been released and the braided man above has dropped from the #1 spot to #6. Anybody that has talked to me about recruiting knows that I never considered Brandon Knight to be the best high school player in the country anyway, but it was nice for the Cats to have the #1 guy. Oh well. Kansas signee and former UK recruit Josh Selby has moved to the top of the Rivals.com rankings. UK's very large Enes (Kanter) enters the rankings as the top center and #3 overall. Now is the time to forget these silly rankings which were made by people who watch these kids many times and listen to the rankings of a balding, outta shape blogger sittin in a recliner in his underwear who has watched them in a couple of all star games and maybe a few YouTube videos. These are my top 10 guys to watch next year as they enter college basketball. These are my diaper dandies. Last year I thought Daniel Orton was underrated and Demarcus Cousins was overrated. I nailed that one, so you'll wanna pay attention here. I did think John Wall was the man. Last year's predictions weren't all bad. I didn't think Cousins was garbage. I just didn't think he was the 2nd best player in the class. I thought Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors looked like the best big man. The NBA might still think he is. Favors or Cousins will more than likely battle it out to be the first big man drafted next month. Here we go. The JV Top 10.

10. Cory Joseph - Texas - There are several really good point guards in this class. Joseph is definitely one of them. He will be great at Texas.

9. Perry Jones - Baylor - This guy is tall (6'11") and skilled. He reminds me of a little bit taller Tayshaun, with Tay being the better shooter and Jones the better inside player. The only bad thing about Jones is that he's going to Baylor and you'll never hear from him again.

8. Jared Sullinger - Ohio State - This is a big man that I love. He's got that wide body with the big butt that you love to see on a post player. He can also step out and hit jumpers. He was schooled repeatedly by big Enes at the Nike Hoop Summit game.

7. Terrance Jones - undecided - Jones will announce his college choice this afternoon and we all hope it's UK, don't we? He is a very skilled wf/pf, and at 6'9" he can dominate inside and out. It amazes me (based on my limited viewings) that he didn't crack the Rivals top 10. He's in mine, unless he goes to Washington, in which case he immediately sucks.

6. Brandon Knight - Kentucky - I love Brandon Knight. When I say I don't think he's the best point guard in the class it doesn't mean that I think he's no good. He's very good. It's just that the 2 I rate above him are also fabulous. Knight can shoot it, which is different from past UK point guards. He's the guy Coach Cal wanted in this class over everybody else. Cal knows a little about what to look for. His last #6 rated recruit was just named the NBA Rookie Of The Year.

5. Tobias Harris - Tennessee - Another player I love, and the big man I wanted the most at UK. He's going to UT though after hearing the Bruce Pearl charm. I'm glad he's going to the SEC, but I really really hate UT. I hope he's a one and done, and I think he will be. Very good player.

4. Josh Selby - Kansas - Electric point guard who could also play shooting guard. This guy is the closest thing to John Wall that you will find in this class. Very athletic and flashy. He won the McDonalds All American dunk contest. There are rumors of attitude problems and selfish play, but there were rumors of that with Boogie last year so wait and see for yourself. I wanted Selby at UK.

3. Enes Kanter - Kentucky - The big Turk dominated the Nike Hoop Summit and shot up the ranking like he'd been put into a cannon. Lets all hope he's as good as he looked that night. The Cats are gonna need use their Enes a whole lot this year to be successful. Lets just pray that we can get him some help down low. I don't know if this Enes can go all night or not. Sorry. I can't quit.

2. Kyrie Irving - Duke - It pains me greatly to put a Dukie this high but I love Irving. It was really a toss up when I tried to decide who to make my #1. Irving, in my opinion, is clearly the best pg prospect. I hope he fails miserably basketball wise at Duke. I hope he earns his degree and gets a good job though. He's special. He's also got mental issues. He signed with Duke.

1. Harrison Barnes - North Carolina - This guy is gonna be good. He can do it all and didn't get to show it as much in the all star games, although he did fare well in those too. He's a small forward prospect who could also probably play some shooting guard. Another guy who I wanted at UK, but we never really had a shot because the coach who initiated our talks with him was drunk (Billy G) and then the new coach who went to talk to him was probably drunk too (Strickland). Then the third coach who recruited him did it in Spanish (Antigua). We never had a chance. I made all that up about the coaches.

There you have it. The JV top 10. Watch college basketball next year and then come back to this post and tell me how right I was.

It's easy to forget how many great plays this UK team had, but this video is an excellent refresher. This was a special team, and if I had to name my all time favorite Cats I believe 3 of the top 10 come from this one team. Wall, Cousins, and Patterson will be missed. Unlike Bunch, this isn't my favorite team of all time, but they're close. 1996 still sits at #1 for me. If these guys had cut down the nets I think they would have overtaken 96. That 96 team had my all time favorite Wildcat, 00 Tony Delk, but so did this team. It's just that he wears suits now. The personalities and talent from this year's team will not soon be forgotten. The Cats are back in business. I'll always remember these guys for bringing the fun back to Kentucky Basketball.

Well what a big day for the Big Blue Nation! We signed Brandon Knight and Michael Gilchrist. This sets the tone for the next two years. I think we got our swagger back. I was not nervous about the two announcements today. In years past I would expect these kids to pick someone else. We also have signed Big Enis and Stacy Poole. I think we will still get two or three more kids within the next week. Some names to keep in mind are Doron Lamb, Josh Selby, Terrence Jones, CJ Leslie we need two of those. Keep your fingers crossed.

As you know by now the blog has entered the twitter world. If you don't follow us you are missing some good stuff! We are twitter legends. People are always stopping me and telling me I have a nice twitter. For some odd reason I can't download a picture of myself on twitter. I guess my head is too big. Also all of the Cats have twitter accounts and I follow them all. Jorts is my favorite he has some classic twitter.

This site was on fire a couple of weeks ago then the cats lost and we all just stopped posting. For me when the cats lost it was like a bad dream. I couldn't believe it was over that quick. This was my favorite team of all time(bold). This team had a collection of good kids and I'm not talking about basketball. They didn't get into trouble, they didn't fight among each other. They just made everyone enjoy watching them and we couldn't get enough of them. This team made my family die hards. We all had our UK gear on every game ready to watch our cats. We all would do our C-A-T-S cats cats cats chant before the game, send out our go big blue text. Kennedy wanted Boogie to be her step daddy. Jenny claims Boogie is her all time favorite cat. Kamden has a framed picture of John Wall hanging in his room. This team made my family closer than ever. So was I mad we lost? No. I was sad to see these guys go. This was an unreal season...championship or not. This was my favorite season of all.

I've been to several Madness campouts and I've never witnessed what the campers this year got to take part in. The players mingled with the fans for 3 straight days out there. Not only did they play cornhole, touch football, pickup basketball, and just hang out; they also brought breakfast in the mornings and pizzas at night. I almost forgot to mention that our head coach and his family also came out several times to meet and greet and feed the fans. Call him a slimeball, cheater, whatever, but Calipari is loved by the UK fans and he knows every detail of his job and in my opinion relates to the fans better than any coach during my lifetime. We don't love Cal just because he's a good coach or because he is gonna bring in top flight recruits. We love him because he is the guy who organized a telethon to help people he had never met. We love him because he traveled all over the state to meet the fans (to sign and sell books too, the guy ain't perfect). He's the guy who camped out with the die hards when he could have just sat at home. He's the guy who gets his picture made with the kitchen staff and puts it on twitter when he speaks at dinners. We love him because he's a family man who obviously values his time with his wife and kids. We love him because he cleans up the mess when his players poop ice cream. You get the picture.

Has there ever been a more likeable player than the beast they call "Boogie"? What makes it even better is that nationally he's thought of as a hot headed thug. Cal said on one of his talk shows this year that he had heard all the rumors about Big Cuz but he knew when he visited his home and saw how he treated his mother that he wanted to coach him. Boogie is a special talent, but he's also a special kid too. He always takes the time to be nice to the fans. Ask Blake if you don't believe me.

Same goes for Bledsoe and Ramon. Rumor has it that Blake gave Eric some pointers on how to better "get sh!t right"!!!!!!

These were taken at the airport when the team got back from Syracuse, the same night that their season was ended. Boogie could have ignored the fans and sulked like most of us probably would have, but the "thug" took time to mingle with the fans. Have I mentioned that Boogie is one of my all time favorites?

He looks good with missing teeth too.

I was recently asked if I wanted to do a little writing on this blog a week or so back at the SEC tourney. Even though I'm an extremely busy person with my newly formed talent agency, booming modeling career,and many many hobbies, I felt I was called by a higher power to write. Actually it was Ho, and he said that he would publish the Nashville Polaroid pics if I didn't, so here I am.

I wanted to start my blogging experience with my most high profile client. He's actually my only client, but that's neither here nor there. My son Cooper is one of the biggest Blue Bloods I know. He has followed the Wildcats religiously his entire life, granted he's only two, but hey, It'll have to work for this blog..

Cooper gained local fame recently because of an incident that happened while We were away at the SEC Tourney. Destiny texted me,(while I was consuming beverages, and watching a big woman in front of me do the running man while the pianos played at Big Bang), saying that she had walked into Coopers toy room, and noticed cooper had his winky and Ray Rays in his hand. She went on to ask Cooper,”Coop,Did you hurt your Winky and Ray Ray's or do they itch"? To which Cooper replied, "No Mommy I just like it"!!

Cooper recently took time out of his busy schedule, (In between episodes of The Smurfs and Handy Manny),to have a sit down with me for a Q & A about Kentucky Basketball.

Enes Kanter commits to the cats today. He is a 6'10'' Turkish star who is a dominate force inside. Not sure if anyone can replace Boogie but he is a good start. There are some hurtles he has to clear before he can become eligible.

Also today Florida has withdrawn there scholarship offer for Brandon Knight. This has to be good news for the cats. Could he be next? Lets hope so, he was named Gatorade player of the year today. Chips starting to fall into place.

This year's fantasy baseball league has been renewed and invitations sent to last year's team managers, with the exception of Grant Sharp. Since Grant quit midway through last season I didn't renew his invite. Miller didn't seem to be much into it either, but I sent him an invitation to join the league again this year anyway. He's full of fantasies and deserves another chance to fulfill his baseball fantasy. What this means is that as of now there is one spot left. Not a dog spot, not a liver spot, but Grant's spot. That's a special spot. That's also a joke that only Tom and Brian will understand. You new Revolting readers need to be told, and I've mentioned this many times in the past to others, sometimes the jokes I (and others) make on here will not be understood by 90% of the readers. We make them anyway because of the joy it will bring that one person who gets it. So don't be surprised when you read something and say to yourself, "WTF?".

A Good Omen for UK and other notes

Kentucky is now 5-0 all time against Wake Forest following Saturday night's 90-60 thumping. What may be good news for Cats fans is the fact that the prior two victories over Wake came during Kentucky Final Four runs in the 90's. Gimel Martinez and the 1993 Cats ran over Rodney Rogers and the Demon Deacons in the Sweet 16. Then in 1996, Mark Pope led the charge over Tim Duncan's Wake squad in the Elite 8.

On another note...did anyone actually watch the Louisville/California game on Friday night? Clark Kellogg was the analyst and he comes up with some great sayings but I'm not sure he'll come up with one to top this one. He was talking about the possibility of the Cardinals coming back over the course of the game when he stated "The runs take a lot out of you." So true Clark, so true.

And to close...I visited the Grand Canyon last year. It was quite the site to see. Absolutely massive. The most massive thing I have ever seen. At least until Littlepage's picture was posted on here. That beard is ginormous.

Tournament Thoughts After The First 3 Days

-First I'll mention the obvious: The Cats are lookin pretty good so far. I've said for a few months that if they play to their potential then nobody can beat them, not even Northern Iowa. As Jimmy Dykes told us countless times during the SEC tournament, there are only 5 teams younger than UK. There are ZERO teams more talented. When they shoot good, they win. It's really simple. They don't even have to shoot lights out. Just hit enough to keep the other teams defense on edge. I am starting to believe in this team's chances. I picked Kansas in my bracket so I've gotta jump on somebody's bandwagon now, right?

-Speaking of Kansas, how about that game? That was one of the best games I've watched in a long time. They kept comparing it to the UK/UAB game from 2004, but I think yesterday's upset was much bigger. Even though that UK team was the top seed, they still had no big man and nobody outside of Kentucky picked them to win it all. People all over the country were picking this Kansas team to win it all, including the Kentucky fan writing the words you're reading right now. Kansas fans have to be in a state of depression today.

-The Northern Iowa guys deserve their own paragraph. I have became a fan. It's bandwagon, I know, but everybody finds a cinderella team to root for every year. Matt Jones said weeks ago on KSR that we would love this team. For once, Jones was right.** Ali Farokhmanesh is one of the most clutch shooters to come along in a while. Plus his name is Ali Farokhmanesh!! How can you not love this O'Rear fellow down low. Mini white guy fro and mutton chops. This guy is everything Bunch wanted to be back when he dreamed of playing mid major college basketball. Well, O'Rear can't shoot it like the Deh Beh, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Not many can. Also gotta love that center of Northern Iowa. I can't even remember his name and I'm not gonna look it up. I kept calling him Eitutis during the game. For those of you who know the former WKU/KWC/Sudden Impact/Hype big man, I think you can see the resemblance. I have found my second favorite team in this year's tournament, and I bet you can guess who it is.

-Hey Zahveeyay, how's that Kansas commitment working out for ya? Man I sure wish that guy had signed with UK. I bet he does too.

-Has Rick coached his last game for the Cards? St. John's rumors are everywhere. I have thought for a long time that Rick would end his career as coach of the filthy Cards. That was before he started banging nasty ho's in swanky Italian restaurants, or at least before he started getting caught.

-St. Mary's deserves their own paragraph as well. They are going to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history. I don't know a lot about them, except that they have a good big man who has been dominant. I remember when they had that point guard Patty Mills. I think he went pro last year. Is that right? Now I can't remember if Patty Mills was a point guard or a good restaurant down at the lake. Oh well, it's early.

-The Sweaty Pearl's of Tennessee have moved on to the Sweet 16. Good for them, and good for the SEC. We all know they aren't capable of going any further, but they've at least kept the conference from looking like a total disaster, which is the only reason I would ever pull for the thugs from "Headband U".

-The lowly Pac 10 is 3-0 so far in the tournament. One of those victories came against our favorite Cardinals. I know Rick hates to lose, but losing to a team named Cal has gotta hurt even more. The slick one has fallen far this year.

-I have failed miserably in my attempt at back to back Revolting Bracket Challenge victories. I have lost 2 of my Final Four picks (Nova and Kansas) already. I truly suck. I'm looking forward to watching the games today. I noticed that everybody in this year's bracket challenge picked either the Cats or Jayhawks to win it all. I guess if the Cats lose I've still got a chance since nobody will have the champion correct. I don't know though without studying it. I'd just rather the Cats go ahead and win the whole thing and somebody else can have the Revolting Bracket title this year.

After the events that transpired this weekend in Nashvegas The Revolting Blog is in an intense negotiation with a new writer. Deh and myself did some recruiting in Music City and we think we have a lock on our next great talent! We met many worthy teammates like Joe B. Hall, Rex Chapman, Kenny Walker, Matt Jones, Tucker Max and the list goes on and on. It was a very tough decision! What If Every UK Player Got Hurt?

Last night I had some crazy thought that ran through my head so I decided to make it into a blog post. What if every UK player got sick or injured and couldn't play in the upcoming NCAA tournament? That would be awful, right? Of course it would. You know what would be even worse? What if the NCAA allowed the university to use Revolting Blog writers as their replacements? By now you're thinking I'm an idiot. You are correct, but I'm gonna go ahead with the piece anyway. I'm gonna tell you who would replace who, and I'm gonna tell you why each writer would be a worthy replacement.

JV (me) - I would be a hybrid combo version of Bledsoe and Dodson. I've been known to make senseless drives into traffic and make silly turnovers (Bledsoe). I'm also pretty good at taking random jumpers that will leave you scratching your head. Those are the bad points. Like Bledsoe and Dodson I will also occasionally knock down several of those jumpers. Sometimes I even come up with a big rebound or defensive play. It's not a normal part of my game, but I once dove into my brother-in-law's knee trying to win a hotly contested game at Bremen. I've got a scar to prove it.

Deh Beh (Bunch) - Jorts. This one is easy. He will get you some rebounds. He will hit you some 3's. He looks good in jean shorts. There's really not much else to say. Bunch is like the Central City version of Josh Harrelson.

The Amish Electrician (Jon Littlepage) - Since we don't really have a John Wall I've gotta give it to the closest thing on the Revolting staff, and that's Littlepage. At least the 1993 version of Littlepage would be the closest thing we have to Wall. Maybe he can't even dribble a ball anymore. I haven't laid eyes on Littlepage in years, at least not in person, so I really don't know. If we were taking the place of Erruption Zone fans then Jon would be that guy behind the goal with the beard. Anyway, his name is Jon, so he's our Wall.

Bob Gas (Bullock) - This is our Patrick Patterson, aka "Black Kool-Aid". He can post up for buckets. He can step out and hit the 3. He will keep us in order when things start going bad. Patterson also seems to really like college, much like Brian. I think he's taken a class in every school year since he graduated in 1995.

Tom Vinson - Boogie. Tom is the logical choice to be our Demarcus Cousins. He's my cousin, but that's not really relevant. Tom is much like Boogie. He has the ability to dominate the paint, but would love to handle the ball and shoot 3's. The main difference in Tom and Boogie is that when we play Tom doesn't have a coach that makes him stay in the paint. Therefore he gets to do all of the things that Boogie wishes he could do. If we actually replaced the Cats for the tournament then Tom could also be Orton because I'm quite sure he and Coach Cal would get in a heated argument and Tom would be banished to the locker room. The only question is how long would it take Coach Padgett to calm him down and get him to the sideline for that apologetic fist bump?

Ho (the one with the package) - Ho is a hard one to compare to a current Cat but I'm gonna go with the "prairie dog" Perry Stevenson. Perry hasn't shown it much this year but he hit some nice mid-range jumpers last year and was even a 3 point threat, much like the Villain Ho. They both can also get some key rebounds. Ho can even block some shots like Stevenson, although not with the same consistency. Both of these guys also will get into somebody's face when the situation warrants it, even though they are both easy going guys. They're also both skinny.

Sizzler (Shane Hardison) - I'm gonna say the Sizzling one is Deandre Liggins. He'll do all the little things that don't show up in the stat sheet. Technically all of us do that because we don't have a stat sheet. He'll play some D. He'll get some rebounds. He'll dish the rock. He'll hit a jumper if you don't respect him. One time at the Gish Park 6' and under tournament, aka the "Dwight Gamble Invitational", the Sizzler even refused to enter a game. Ok, I made that up. While the DGI is on my mind I'd like to mention that Tom "Boogie" Vinson once played in that tournament. I also once managed to get the refs to call a technical on an opposing coach for being out of the coaches box, which didn't even exist at Gish Park. That coach was not happy. That's what they get for letting 6'3" white guys play in that tournament.

Chris Faith - Mark Krebs. You rarely hear much from Faith, but everybody likes him. That's pretty much Mark Krebs, right?

So there you have it. Your 2010 Revolting Wildcats. If this ridiculous scenario actually did come true, I would put all of my money on East Tennessee State. We would not cover the spread, which would be astronomical.

When Jenny and I got home from Nashville last night the first thing we did was get a jar out and put SEC tourney fund on it. We had a blast. And if you love Kentucky basketball its a must to go. I will do everything in my power to never miss anther tournament. The atmosphere was unreal. I have been to Rupp many times and it is awesome, but the crowd in Nashville was the loudest I have ever been around. The Tennessee game was the loudest for the entire game, but when Boogie hit the shot to send it to overtime against Miss. state the arena was rocking. The coolest thing about the Tennessee game was every time the band tried to do Rocky Top the UK fans would drown them out with GO BIG BLUE! Every where we went it was full of Kentucky fans. Its just hard to explain what it was like, hard to put into words.
We saw several UK alum Kenny Sky, Rex Chapman, Jeff Sheppard, Joe B. Hall, Ashley Judd, Mark Pope, and hung out with Matt Jones. We first saw Matt Jones doing a pod cast at hooters. I screamed "where is WOO "and he looked up and smiled later he took a picture with me and Ho. Then Saturday night we were at "Big Bang" which is a club where some guy's can play any song and I mean any song you request on the piano. There where two girls we sent a dirty message that I can't repeat from Nick"Omar"Ray. They said "do you know who we are" and we said "no", they went on to tell us that they were with Matt Jones and KSR. Then he showed up and talked with us and hung out some. Pretty cool guy. The highlight of the night was when he put his arm around me and we sang Living on a Prayer. We had blast at that place. Friday night we went to Hooters and hung out with Clint Ray and his brother Omar. We had that whole place rockin to Blue/White and then Orange/Sucks. Sorry I'm jumping around but the whole 4 days is a blur. I still can't talk. After we left Hooters we went to Coyote Ugly. I have some pics. Some I can post some I can't. But one high light was getting a Tennessee fan to do the John Wall dance, we called him Chism's daddy and he loved it.

I would like to thank Ho and Julie for putting up with Jenny and me for the weekend. We had a blast and can't wait till next year. Hope more can go next year! It will be a blast.

Big game today for the Cats. If they come out like they did against Bama they will get whipped. Day 1 from the SEC tournament offered many photo opportunities and a really good basketball game to kick off the tournament action. South Carolina got up big on Alabama early in the second half only to see an 18 point lead slip away. Eventually South Carolina's Devan Downey missed a free throw late in the game to allow Bama to seal the deal and finish off the Cocks.

The first photo opp came early on in our trip when we stopped in Russellville at Harby's for breakfast. I was in the bathroom and man walked in and said "You a Kentucky fan?" and of course I said yes and told him we were on our way to the SEC tournament. The young gentleman of African American persuasion was cleaning the toilet at this time and proceeded to tell me that the head coach was his cousin. As you might imagine I was little alarmed to find out this fact and I'm sure I had a stunned look on my face. Then he finally he said football which I immediately put the equation together and knew he was talking about Joker. That was photo opp #1.

Our second photo opp came outside the Sommet center when Bunch recognized Richie Farmer standing close to us. I told him I would take his picture with Rich but he refused to approach our Secretary of Agriculture.

The third photo opp came during an intermission when we walked out to use the restroom and were watchin the 104.5 guys do their broadcast live from the Sommmet Center. The famous Matt Jones strolled by and we didn't take advantage of the opportunity only to find out later that JV requested we get a picture of Jones.

Fourth photo opp came immediately after Jones passed by when we noticed that Blaine Bishop was doing the broadcast with the 104.5 The Zone crew. We weren't really in a position to have a photo with Bishop but could have gotten a picture very close. He seemed like a butthead so we weren't really concerned.

That brings us to the photo we actually chose for our daily post. Deh noticed this sign as we walked in to Fan Fare so we realized there was an opportunity to make this a great photo. While we were having the girls snap the picture people were walking by laughing and when we finished some old fellow asked us if we "Did y'all do that on purpose?" to which we replied you can see the picture on The Revolting Blog.

Overall it was a boring day since the Cats didn't play but we still had fun! We are ready for Day 2 and some Big Blue hardwood action.

Well its about 11pm Wednesday night and I can't sleep to pumped about tomorrow. Oh did I forget to mention we are headed to Nashville to the SEC tourney. The Huff's and Jenny and I are heading down at 8 a.m. in the mourning to bring some live coverage for the blog. We plan to see all the games and get some classic pics.

I had a great omen when I got home from work tonight. Jenny yelled for me to come to the bathroom to look a something. I know what your thinking a turd shaped like a K. But it wasn't she had BLUE pee I said holy @$#% how did you do that I want to be able to do that. She said no dumb ass its caused by the medicine I'm on so of course I asked for some. But that's got to be a good sign for the cats.

March Madness is finally here

First off, I'd like to apologize for my absence from The Revolting Blog. In addition to a major contract overhaul from the blogs creator, I've been covered up in baseball. I agreed to be baseball director for our recreation park this year and it is a full time job. I also have 2 baseball teams and Abby is playing softball so I've been covered up.

What do ya'll think about the Wildcats? The loss to Tennessee was a heartbreaker. I didn't get to watch that game and I guess I'm glad. I despise those filthy Volunteers. All I've ever seen them volunteer for is armed robbery. Somebody tell me where the breakdown was in that game. It wasn't even as close as it should've been. I know Tennessee can play in spurts but they beat us 9 points I think. Where were our boys?

Anyway, I think there's a great chance for a SEC title for Kentucky. The Cats have a much tougher road to hoe to make it to the Championship game in the upper bracket. I predict they'll have to play South Carolina and Tennessee to get to the final game. For those of us living under a rock, those are the only 2 teams that have beat us. You may think that doesn't mean much since we killed South Carolina in our second game against them, but it does. First of all, they know Kentucky can be beat. Second, Kentucky killed them in their 2nd game so they may take them too lightly. Third, the Cats are young. They are very talented and a great basketball team but this is the first time their actually playing for something other than a win. This is for the First SEC title in along time and the pressure is on them. Don't get me wrong, I think they have what it takes to win the title, but it definitely will not be easy. Hopefully they'll get some revenge if they have to play Tennessee in the semi-finals. Did I mention I hate Tennessee?

It's worth your time. You die hards who read KSR have probably watched it before. They loved it back when it happened. I love it when he says "Their da Big Blue, you oughtta know that". "Cousins became Cousins", "I'm hearin that John Wall's the greatest, right? That's how it got away". I'd love to see more Coles pressers. This is apparently not even one of his best.

LSU Sends Kentucky to NIT

That was the headline describing the result of last year's SEC tournament. We all knew going in that it would take a monumental effort, and maybe an SEC tourney title to make the big dance. Part of me, though, believed the Cats would somehow sneak into the field of 65. That was not the case. The 2009 team was indeed...whipped. Not just by LSU and the rest of the league, but by the season itself. We've all heard horror stories about the antics of the man they call Clyde...bathroom stalls, Pop Tarts, dancing and wild women. In my humble opinion, the team was physically exhausted by the the grueling practice schedule and mentally exhausted by the drama.

What a difference a year makes.

This version of the Wildcats has been totally revamped from top to bottom by the most energetic and enthusiastic coach in the game. We have a different expectation this year. Fans, and most of the nation, expect the Cats to take home the SEC championship and make a legitimate run at a National crown.

We, as Kentucky fans, take a lot of heat about our unrealistic level of expectations. But you know what? I don't expect to win every year, or every two years...or even every three. I just want a chance to win. March is a craps shoot. Every season there are a handful of teams with the talent and coaching to have a real shot at cutting down the nets. I've thought Kentucky was in that conversation once in the last twelve years. Every other season I thought we either underachieved, or the talent level was so low that even if they overachieved, it wasn't enough a to make a run. What was so frustrating was everyone in the media claimed we were crazy and the program hadn't slipped at all. Now those same people sing the praises of Calipari for returning the program to the top. Go figure.

I would love to see a banner go up in Rupp this year. But even if that doesn't happen, what this team has done is make the Big Blue Nation believe again. We believe when the game is on the line a wiry kid with a cool dance will become unstoppable. We believe our veteran leader will score on the block and get a big offensive rebound. We believe Boogie will be Boogie. We are competitive again, on every level, and will be for years. That's what Kentucky basketball is all about.

SEC Tournament

Well the SEC bracket is set and the Cats play Friday at 12:00(those times are eastern). I think the Cats have the toughest possible road if the teams win that should. They should play South Carolina,Tenn. then Vandy if everyone can take care of business including the cats. The teams in the east sort of got screwed because the top 5 teams in the east are better the the top teams in the west, but the top 2 teams from each division get a bye.

The Ho's(Julie and Joel) and Jenny and I are going to the tourney and I can't wait. This is my first tourney and I am pumped. My goal is to get some classic pics for the blog. Ho is making some "I Read The Revolting Blog" and "I Love The Gay Cops" and my personal favorite "GIT SUCKS" signs. So look for us in the corner. GO CATS!!!!

Thoughts of a Hilltopper Fan

With all the UK talk on this site…I thought I might add a splash of red to the blog. No, not Louisville. This is nothing against UK or their fans…just some thoughts.

Sunday, March 7^th…I am sitting in my car listening to 100.7 FM out of Bowling Green. Listening to Western Kentucky play Arkansas State in the Sun Belt tourney quarterfinals. With zero TV broadcast of the game, I am reduced to reclining the seat in my Accord and catching the play-by-play between the sporadic hits of static on the station. The Hilltoppers are down by 6 with about 2 minutes left to play. The way they have played thus far, it looks like a lead to large to overcome…and the basketball season is coming to an end…

I think about how easy most Kentucky fans have it. Game day….get a little work done….maybe some chores around the house….go to the store and pick up some refreshments…..drop down in the Lazyboy, in front of the TV…..put the station on ESPN or some local channel and cheer on the Cats.

I remember in Frankfort, on WKU basketball game day, me and a fellow Western alum co-worker would try to find the closest place that could possibly have the game on. We would usually drive 25 minutes to Shelbyville or 45 minutes just outside Louisville to watch the game. The problem was, especially on games during the week, these places would close before the end of the game (problems between central and eastern time zones). So Steve and I would have to find a radio station to listen to the end of the game.

Fast forward to the present, back in Muhlenberg and back to the western part of the state. Now I can at least find a local station to watch the Tops. Sure, Channel 12 HSSN is kind of annoying. Trying to watch the game between horrible local commercials and pleads for donations to pay $100 for car flags just to keep the public access station going. And let’s not mention the horrible announcers….but at least I can watch my favorite team (no, not the Fab Five). Now its Sun Belt tournament time….what? no local broadcast….guess I have to hope Western makes the championship game so I can watch it on ESPNU between broadcasts of March Madness tournament talk and a UConn women’s game. Until then, I am spending nights like I was in the 1940s or 1950s…listening to games on the radio.

In some aspects, I actually like cheering for a small school like WKU (plus I am an alum) as compared to UK. (no disrespect to Kentucky) A place where “Kentucky boys” like Slaughter and Pettigrew actually play and make a difference in wins/losses. For UK fans, especially this year, anything short of a Final Four appearance, a championship game, or national title might seem like a disappointing season or failure. But with WKU, my one-and-done season starts with the (God help me) Sun Belt tourney. And if they do make the tournament, every game is important…almost like a national title game. And every year is a possible step back up to the tradition that Western Kentucky basketball is (top 15 in overall wins, right?)

I remember years past, most UK fans would fill out two March Madness brackets. One where UK makes a run to the national title game or championship, and the other bracket was a little more thought out with match-ups, etc., etc. My bracket would consist of one with WKU winning a game (unlike last year in which I actually had them winning their first two games in my ‘serious’ bracket) and the other with my expectations brought down to reality. But no matter what, even with a year where WKU would be a possible 14 to 16 seed, a trip to the tournament is an exciting day. And for most ‘big’ school fans out there who might say that I am accepting mediocrity, and that expecting a team/school to win a national title every year is the only option. I remember that I personally, either material or financial, do not gain anything from ‘my’ school or alma mater winning a national championship. And that personal victory is all relative…

…what? The Hilltoppers have come back on a three pointer by Slaughter to lead by 3 with 25 seconds left…ASU cuts it to one…now ASU has the ball…ASU for a lay-up! They missed it!!!....

Scandalous

First off I just wanted to weigh in on the recent events of the Tiger Woods scandal. I know Tiger is the greatest golfer of my time and probably of all time but my feelings about the affairs he had and the game he plays are pretty much the same, I don't care!

On to our next scandal which involves SEC ref Tony "And 1" Greene. I recently read on the web (from an unreliable source) that Tony Greene might be "on the take" since his recent debacle of UK games such as the terrible performance at the Tennessee game. Let me tell you something folks I know for sure Tony Greene is not "on the take" in spite of his recent missed calls and game changing performances. I have seen this guy call many games both on television and in person, he is terrible all the time and in all situations. He fits the mold for an SEC ref in the fact that he is horribly inconsistent and has a nack for changing the game with his whistle.

Disclaimer: I do not think that the refs cost UK ball games however I do feel the officiating of SEC basketball games is very inconsistent throughout the course of the game.

The last scandal I would like to touch on today is The Revolting Blog! I know there has been a lot of talk lately about the lack of posting by our staff and the blog's creator has done some damage control within our fan base to restore the people's confidence in our ability to make you laugh. Well here is my opinion people, we Bloggers are Glory Hounds! By that I mean when we write something we want to see feedback in the comments section. So if you want us to write you have to write something as well. Get off your lazy bum and drop us some praise every now and then! Better yet disagree with one of our opinions and see what happens. I guarantee when our fans cry out for us you will receive what you long for, new posts. Who knows we might even revive the "Daily Deh" or "The Quote of the Day" if you ask!

Just To Show You How Wrong I Was Back In October (I was right on some things too)!!!!!!

This is a piece I wrote following the blue/white scrimmage back in October. Read back through it and see how wrong I was about these Cats. I predicted 5-7 losses, which is hard to believe because I'm usually overly optimistic. I guess they could still end up with 5 losses and I could be right, but I'd rather be wrong.

This is my favorite time of the year. Baseball playoffs are always fun to watch, football is in full swing, and the anticipation of college basketball to me is like when you're a little kid counting down the days till jolly ole Saint Belhasen comes to bring you lots of toys. It leaves me as giddy as a Mulkey the night they won the tag team straps. Last night in front of a record crowd for a scrimmage, a crowd which included Spilla, we got our first good look at our beloved Wildcats. These are my thoughts on what we have witnessed so far.

-These aren't the same Cats we've gotten used to over the last few seasons. They are gonna play fast and furious.

-John Wall is good. He's fast, athletic, charismatic, and seems to have a pretty good sense of what to do basketball wise for a freshman point guard. I just hope the rest of the team can keep up with him. I can't remember the Cats ever having a faster player since I've been old enough to care. He loves to find an open teammate, but if they don't get where they are supposed to be quick enough, he has the ability and no problem with finishing the play himself. Even if his jumper isn't pure, he's still gonna be great. He will undoubtedly face many zones and sagging man to man defenses to try and offset his speed and penetration abilities. I would guess that there are fewer than 5 players in college basketball right now who would even have limited success of trying to play him tight and keep him from driving, and one of them is on his team. Wall is a star already. He knows it, and knows how to play the part. He's flashy without being full of himself. He's probably gonna end up being one of my favorites of all time.

-Eric Bledsoe is good too. He might be the second fastest player the Cats have had during my fanhood. He's another guy that loves to find an open man. He can drive, dish, and finish. He's very well built and can handle some contact. He's gonna get sh!t right. His jumper looks pretty broke though. When was the last time the Cats had a point guard who could really shoot? One of the Catspause writers said that Bledsoe's jumper looked like a Tim Wakefield pitch. I still love the guy, and the Cats will be moving at warp speed when he and Wall are playing together.

-Josh Harrelson (Jorts) should get some playing time. I was one of many who thought Jorts wouldn't make the cut when Calipari first came and started dropping players left and right. However, after watching the Big Blue Madness scrimmage and the Blue/White scrimmage I have changed my mind. I think he can be a very valuable part of this team. He can shoot it and he can bang down low on defense. He's kinda like Bunch on Sunday's at Bremen. Every 3 he puts up you just know it's going in. Every shot from 5 feet or less, you cringe.

-Patrick Patterson is the leader. He went out west to work with "hell's trainer" this summer and it shows. He has definitely added some to his physique, which was already impressive. He showed some of the basketball skills he has been working on too. He handled the ball more than I've ever known him to and hit a couple of 3's. If he can consistently show those skills during the season, I think he can be a first team All-American and lottery pick. John Wall is A star on this team. However, Patrick Patterson is THE star on this team. He should have a great year and go down as one of the greatest Cats ever in my opinion.

-Demarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton will combine with Patterson and Jorts to give us one of, if not the best, frontcourts in the nation. Cousins needs to play with a little more urgency, because Orton is plenty capable of taking his spot. They are both very talented and I'm excited to see what they can do this year.

-Darnell Dodson is a player. We've all heard he could shoot the rock, but he showed that he can also create a little. With the Cats being kinda short on shooters, he could become a very big part of whatever success the team can achieve. I read the scoring lines for the game and now I'm going blank, but I think Dodson was the high scorer for the night. Correct me if I'm wrong.

-Darius Miller has star potential, skill wise. He is the new version of Kelenna Azubuike. I always wanted Kelenna to take charge and act like he was the best player on the team, which he was at times, but he just wasn't that kind of player. Darius isn't the best player on this team, but he's very good and I think he could be even better with a little more confidence. I would just like to see him get mad and take over every now and then. Could we get Rondo to sleep with his girlfriend or something?

-I think Hood is better than people give him credit for being. The guy is a top 40 recruit. At one time he was rated in the top 20, before slipping a little after being hurt during the AAU season prior to his Sr. year of high school. He's very athletic and has a good looking jumper. He can handle the ball fairly well and create his own shot. On most teams around the country he would contribute a lot this year. At UK he will probably see limited minutes because of the depth of talent on the team, but make no mistake, John Hood can play with anybody. Whenever he breaks out, whether it be this year or 2 years from now, just remember who told you first. He was forced to create a lot of his own offense tonight because he started out on a team with no point guard. Plus, he's not always gonna have someone as quick as Wall or Bledsoe guarding him. When Wall and Bledsoe are his teammates, those contested shots you saw him putting up tonight will be wide open, or he will be driving by the defender as they try to close out on him. Maybe I'm wrong, but I really like what I see so far from Hood.

-Deandre Liggins is confusing. All I've heard is how great this new system has been for Liggins. Coach loves Liggins. Liggins is the x-factor for this team. Blah, blah, blah. He didn't look that great to me tonight. However, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt considering Calipari says he'll be a 3 man in this system and tonight he was forced to play mostly point guard due to the teams. Much like I said with Hood, Liggins will probably be a different looking player when Wall and Bledsoe are on his team and he's not being guarded by guys who are so quick. He's got nice tats. I'll give him that.

-Perry Stevenson is a guy I feel sorry for. He just doesn't seem to fit in with this style of play. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong, but I just don't see where Perry can find minutes when you look at who's in front of him. It kinda makes me sad because I've always liked Stevenson, and on the right team he could be a very good role player. I'm just afraid he's gonna be riding some major pine for his senior year.

-Ramon Harris actually shot well tonight. He hit four from treyville. Don't get used to it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this was an aberration. If Razor can somehow prove to be a shooter, he could possibly find some minutes. We know he's athletic and we know he can defend and rebound. However, much like Stevenson, the guys in front of him are just better. I like Razor, always have. I'm glad he stuck around for his senior year.

-Mark Krebs has a nice looking shot. Cal keeps saying that Krebs earned his scholarship and that he deserves to be on this team. I don't see him getting very much playing time, but when he shoots it, you have this feeling that it's going in. That's good enough for me. I like it when you can have confidence that the guys at the end of the bench aren't gonna kill you when they come in.

-I liked that Cal asked Joe B. to join him on the bench. He embraces the history of the program better than any coach we've had during my time of loving the Cats. I also loved seeing all of the classic players that were on hand. Wayne Turner, Ron Mercer, Scott Padgett, and of course my all time favorite Cat, Tony Buckets.

-I think these Cats are gonna be very good. I think they will lose 5-7 games though. I'm not as confident as a lot of fans about the overall record. Their lack of perimeter shooting will bite them at least a time or two this year. Their youth will as well. Plus, every guy on the team is learning a new system. If they can put it all together by tournament time though, look out. They have the talent to be a legit Final Four threat. We'll see how it all plays out. This is a great year for basketball in Kentucky. The Cats appear to be back, the Tops are gonna be good (top 25 good in my opinion), and Louisville should take a step back this season. I really think the Cards aren't as good as the Tops. I guess we'll find out for sure. They play again this year, right? Also, don't sleep on Morehead State, the Cats first opponent. They return their starting 5 and gave the filthy Cards all they wanted in the NCAA tourney last year. Could UL be the 4th best team in the state? Man I wish.

-One last note for Sizzlin Shane. Michigan is also good this year. Saw them rated in the top 15 in a couple of preseason polls

The Message From Our Recent Blog Employee Meeting

The blog meeting was actually only me sending a text message to encourage more posting, especially during my favorite time of the year, March Madness. The bloggers have agreed to step up and we have already witnessed Deh Beh living up to his word with the Hank Gathers stuff. That brought back some March Madness memories for sure. The Bo Kimble left handed free throws will always be one of the greatest NCAA moments for me. The Revolting Blog will be lucky this year as we will have 2 bloggers on location in downtown Nashville for the SEC tournament. Ho and Deh Beh will hopefully bring us many classic stories and pictures live from Nashvegas next weekend. Faith is busy running youth sports for the state of Alabama but promises to weigh in at some point. Tom and Bullock have the ability to post great stuff. Bullock probably will. Tom don't have time for no stinkin blog. Jon Littlepage will be fired at the end of the SEC tournament...........unless he steps it up..............we'll probably even keep him if he'll just create a post that says "hi"...............that's all it'll take Jon!!!!!! Wow its hard to believe its been 20 years today that the Great Hank Gathers collapsed and died during his game. He was one of the best of his time. With a little over 13 min. left in the first half Hank Got an alley-opp and turned to run up the court and collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital where an hour later he was pronounced dead. An autopsy showed that he died from a heart muscular disorder, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

It's a sandwich Friday...Cats game last night and one tomorrow. Tomorrow is also my Upwards basketball team's last game of the season. I haven't blogged about the team much, so I'm sure everyone has eagerly awaited updates on the third and fourth grade "Heat" of Fairfield, Ohio. We're 0-6. Yep...winless. We have come a long way, though. Only two kids on the team have ever played basketball before, so its been a challenge to say the least. Plus we only get one hour a week to practice. Can anyone think of more excuses? I am feeling an upset tomorrow, though. We play the Wildcats (which was my first choice for our team name, but was taken by the asst. league commissioner and fellow UK fan) who have what is probably the league's best player. But I got GOONS...so we'll see what happens.

I couldn't be more impressed with the Cats. Their half court offense still struggles at times, but they just keep finding ways to win. And these aren't easy games. Vandy is a good team, and to go to Nashville and win was huge. I'm hoping they can do the same at Knoxville tomorrow. The last three games, Patterson has looked like the player I've expected him to be all along. I believe this team can win it all. If you would have told me on February 26th, 2009 that I would type that last statement, I would have laughed at you. But I believe more with every game.

It's official...we are having another BOY! I thought about doing my best Sean Salsbury and posting ultrsound pictures of the boy parts, but I'll spare you. The jury is still out on names. Any suggestions?

Last but certainly not least, go read this article about a drunken monkey. It is a moving tale about AiAi, a primate who picked up some nasty habits, and eventually lost his job in the circus as a result. I can just imagine this guy getting up at the crack of dawn and getting started on a long day of gettin' it on (apparently he has fathered many children), drinking and smoking. My question is, where does he get the smokes and booze, and how did this habit begin? If he is a drunk, what self respecting zookeeper keeps funneling him PBR? And the article says the monkey would pester passers-by for alcohol. How could passers-by possibly be aware that this animal is asking for Salem Light Menthols and a stiff drink? There's gotta be more to this story. If I find more information while I'm monkeying around on the internet, I'll be sure to pass it along.

It's been a while since I posted anything. It's been a while since anybody posted anything. I've got a good excuse. I lost the web address. I know you all believe that. On to the news.

The Cats narrowly escaped again, but it was a huge win. To go on the road to Vandy and beat any Vandy team is a good win, but this year's Commodores could be one of their best teams ever. They are no longer just a bunch of guys who run a good offense and knock down long range bombs. They are athletic. They are tough, and they can still shoot, even though they didn't show it last night. Here are a few thoughts about Vandy and a few other games the Cats have won since my last post following their only loss.

-Vandy didn't go with the all game zone like other teams have used with success against the Cats, and it just goes to further prove how athletic and tough the Dores are. I think they're the best team the Cats have played this year. I also think they should be ranked higher.

-He gets on my nerves to no end, but I was glad to see a little fire and toughness out of the big Aussie A.J. Ogilvy. When he had to be restrained after his "and 1" on Cousins we saw a side of big ol A.J. that we'd never witnessed before. Sure, he's a first class dork, but I was glad to see him get pissed for once.

-Cousins gets repeatedly hammered, but that's just a part of going to college isn't it?

-Patterson has come up big in 2 straight games. I hope we see this continue. I still think he's one of the best players in the country, even if he has to sacrifice some points and rebounds because he's playing with better players now. I also still think he's the guy Kentucky should go to in the clutch. I don't care how many big shots Wall hits.

-Wall's not a bad option either by the way.

-Bledsoe is slowly taking over the "most likely to get kicked out of a game" title.

-I loved beating the Vols. No matter how much I hate the Vols, I still kinda like "Sweaty" Bruce. I just think he'd be a cool coach to play for. I'd never go to UT to play for him, but I can see why kids would want to. As long as you're content with Sweet 16's, Bruce is your guy.

-I loved seeing Varnado finally getting fouls called on him. He normally commits about 42 fouls per game but only ends up with about 3. Against the Cats he fouled out. I was very surprised, but he should foul out every game. I thought he was gonna cry over on the sidelines. That's not a joke either. I truly thought he was gonna break down. Surely somebody else saw what I did.

-It's a shame when about 10 idiots make a whole fanbase look bad, but that's what happened to Mississippi State.

-I love the "Boogie" headband that Cousins wears during warmups now. Why don't he wear it during the games? Surely the NCAA doesn't have anything against the word "Boogie", although I wouldn't doubt it.

-I was mad when Liggins was the guy to take the buzzer shot against State until I saw how his teammates reacted. There were 4 more deserving players on the court to take that shot and every one of them was there to tell Liggins "it's ok". Liggins and the guys all had smiles on their faces and looked to have the attitude of "let's get em in overtime". It says a lot to have so many stars on a team that will react that way. That's one of the biggest reasons they have been successful in my opinion. Unselfish for the most part, although you will see spurts of selfish play from time to time. Overall I think these guys really like each other and really enjoy seeing each other have individual success because it means the team is successful. I thought it would be a big problem but I think these guys truly just want to win, and they somehow keep finding a way to do it.

-Cat fans are "crazy". Cal told me.

-Awesome seeing the crowd for Gameday. Awesome profile on the "John Wall Dance". Awesome when they were asking for game predictions at the end and Hubert Davis didn't even answer with words. He just stood up and did the dance.

-Awesome that Cal was able to get good seats for Bilas' brother. I know Tom and I weren't the only ones to catch that exchange when Cal walked out before the commercial break and they accidently had his mic on.

-I loved how Cal creatively stole time to promote the UK women's team during his Gameday interview. He also reminded me for the 1000th time this season that Cat fans are crazy.

-filthy Cards had a big win at Syracuse. I still say they will make the tournament.

-North Carolina sucks.

-John Littlepage is the best blogger you've never read.

This was the WHO in 1975 the year I was born. The Who was formed in 1964 let me say that again 19freaking64. Why would the NFL want them to play for the halftime show. They are old and need to give it up. When you pick a halftime show you should stay away from some things. 1. no one who preforms should be grandparents. 2. Half of your band should still be living. I mean don't get me wrong they are a hall of fame band but they are old. The last super bowl half time show I remember is the nipple show. personally I would love to see Motley Crue and Snoop Dog together. Don't know if they ever preformed together but it would be great. Anyways on to the second half.

I don't have anything especially important on my mind today, but blog activity appears to be at an all time low, so I thought it is my duty to get a post up. Otherwise, I'm just stealing money.

The Cats are rolling. They play a lowly LSU team today, but could run into trouble if they bring a southern Carolina type effort. On the other hand, it could get ugly early if the team that played Arkansas shows up. We'll see.

For the record, I miss Wayne Hart. These guys in Cincy might as well have pygmy goats forcasting the weather. Up to 11" of snow was forecast(ed?) today and we got 3. And this ain't the first time. They can't tell me if it's gonna rain, or even how cold it will be. I actually emailed Wayne and told him I appreciate him. Yeah, that's a little weird, but trust me...you don't know whatcha got 'til it's gone.

Short post, but hopefully it will jump start some of the other slackers bloggers.

Well that was certainly a surprise. I had thought of the South Carolina game as a potential loss earlier in the season, but when they dismissed their big guy and Archie went down with an injury I changed my mind. Devan Downey is officially the "Cat killer" now. Darrin Horn is now 3-0 against the Cats. I don't wanna jump on the bandwagon of Cat fans who dismiss the loss as a good thing. It can be a learning experience, no doubt. However, winning with clutch play late in the game could have been a good learning experience too. In the long term I do think this loss will turn out to be a good thing if they respond the right way, but man I wanna win em all. I'm still pleased with the way the Cats have played this season. Their 19-1 record is better than I thought it would be at this point. Below are some of my thoughts about the game.

-Patrick Patterson needs to immediately go through the process of changing his name to Waldo because I don't know where the heck he is. How in the world can you have a young team in a tight road game and your veteran first team all american takes 4 shots? Why has Patterson seemed to disappear the last few games? I think he's lost in the offense. He doesn't seem to be comfortable when it gets into a halfcourt game. He gets most of his points now off of jumpers and running the break, but I assume he is still pretty potent in the post if he wants to be. Is Cal just not wanting him down there demanding the ball or does Pat just not do it? I thinks it's probably a little bit of both. I don't mean that Cal doesn't want Pat to post up. I just think he's that confident in Cousins that he wants that to be the first post option. I also think that's a damn good option, but there's room for Pat to do a little "down low" work as well. This is Patterson's team. It's time someone told him to act like it.

-Still on the Patterson topic. When there was just under a minute left in the game Patterson got 2 big offensive rebounds. Why was he so hellbent on getting the ball out to Wall around the 3 point line? Take that ball and put it in the hoop big fella. He almost threw the second one away he was trying so hard to get rid of it. It was almost like he was in a panic. I also don't know why they were so dead set on getting a 3 up. It was a 4 point game and a 2 would have been fine. I would have thrown it to Boogie. He was pretty much unstoppable.

-I know you can look at any close game and point out a few plays that could have changed the game, but there were 2 plays in this one that pretty much let me know that this wasn't the Cat's night. Dodson's breakaway missed layup was the first one. Dunk the ball!!!!!! The second was that Downey "and 1" with 2 seconds on the shot clock. Did Liggins actually foul him on that play or was it a good acting job? The replay wasn't clear, but it didn't look like a foul to me.

-First let me put this in bold letters: I DO NOT think the refs cost UK the game. Now with that said, the refs in the SEC are horrible. They seem to get worse every year. Terribly inconsistent. They make as many bad calls in the Cats favor as they do against them. I repeat: I'm not trying to say that the refs cost us the game. I just wanted to voice my overall displeasure with their work. That offensive goaltending on Orton was especially bad. Why can they go to the monitors 15 times a game to see if somebody's foot is on the line on a 3, but they can't go look and see if the ball was on the rim on that play? That may not be the ref's fault. It's probably just a rule. I'm not really sure what's reviewable and what's not. Tom Eades, if you're reading this, let us know in the comments section. By the way, you suck too.

-These Cats have got to slow down some during the game. They are so addicted to turning every single rebound into a fast break that it leads to costly and unnecessary turnovers. If Wall or Bledsoe would just come to the ball sometimes instead of streaking down the court the Cats would commit at least 5 fewer turnovers per game. We make way too many risky outlet passes because our guards wanna get run outs. I love playing fast and I love our speed. I just wish they would not try for the long outlet so often.

-John Wall has got to start "bringing it" the entire game. I don't mean that he lacks effort. We've all witnessed it several times this season where he goes on a tear for a few minutes like he needs to remind us that he's the best player in the building. I wish he would start the game off with that "take over" attitude and keep it until the final buzzer. Hopefully these guys know now that they can't just turn it on when they want to and still win.

-I just typed something about Wall being the best player in the building. Is that even true anymore? Big Boogie is staking his claim to that title in my opinion. With all due respect to Matthew Pilgrim, Cousins is a beast. He makes plays that most centers just can't make. Plus he's keeping his composure lately and not getting into foul trouble as much. He also hustles more than anybody else on the team. It blows my mind that these mock drafts have him going in the teens. If a team picks Ed Davis or Cole Aldrich over Cousins, they should shoot their GM on the spot. I truly believe that Cousins and Wall should be the top 2 picks in the draft, and I'm starting to wonder which one will be #2.

-Devan Downey didn't do anything unexpected. He actually didn't even reach his SEC scoring average. He shot 9-29. The Cats got beat by giving up too many offensive rebounds and getting outhustled. That's just my opinion. I'm not trying to discredit Downey's performance. He's a great player. He's probably the best guard in the SEC this year. He's not gonna be the best long term, but this year he probably is. He made some BIG TIME plays in the game tonight. The fact that he's a midget makes it even more miraculous.

-I got on Facebook earlier and saw a few taunts from opposing fans. It's great to know we're back and have everybody's attention. Marnie Smith posted that "the Cats can't handle being #1". Some dude replied that "UL can't handle being #47, stay humble". Pretty classic. When the roles were reversed last year (Cats sucked, Cards didn't) I don't remember Cat fans taunting UL after they lost a game. I'm sure it happened in places. I just don't remember it being all over sites like Facebook. Kentucky is 19-1. That's an awesome record. They will still be a top 5 team. Calm down Card fans. We're still better than you.

-Be proud of the Cats. They started the year off great and were bound to stumble at some point. In Billy G's first season UK won 18 games. We've already passed that mark this year. In his second season we won 19 games during the regular season before winning one in the SEC tourney and 2 in the NIT. We've already tied that regular season mark this year. The program has come a long way in a very short time. Enjoy this team and don't get too down about 1 loss to a bunch of cocks.

First off, I want to say that the Blog does not endorse gambling. But I have been on such a hot streak this year (except for Fantasy Football) that I had to share my skills on picking games against the spread. Plus I am bored on a Thursday before my run of Community/Parks and Rec/The Office/30 Rock is on television tonight.

This year I am a cool 52-33 (61%) against the spread for NFL games...a collective 3-5 (38%) in the playoffs, but we won't talk anymore about that. For all IRS agents out there, that terrific record had just allowed me to break even for the year ;)

So here we go for this weekend's conference championship games...

Jets v. Colts - Things for certain...Jets will run, we will hear several times that no one prepares for a game better than Colts #18 and Broadway Joe will be drunk hitting on some hot sideline reporter. Feeling the pressure to keep up with the Colts, Sanchez will have to sling the ball around a little more than usual which will lead to a few more mistakes by The Green. But if the Jets can run the ball with upstart rookie Shonn Greene--- all next year fantasy managers take note on this future RB star--- they might be able to keep the Colts offense off the field. But it may not matter, since the Colts won many games while losing the time of possession. Even though the Colts were not stout against the run in the regular season, they did hold a very good Ravens rushing attack down.

There is no QB in the league better against the blitz than Manning, which doesn't bold well for the Jets defense. He will distribute the ball evenly to all receivers and backs...and slowly pick New York apart. The Colts offense will be one-sided, slightly pass happy...but it won't matter.

And for a fun drinking game, take a shot everytime you hear the phrase "Revis Island" or anytime you see the cameras scan to any Manning family member in the crowd.

Vikings v. Saints - This will be the more entertaining game of Sunday. I really don't like Favre (ex-Packer) or the Vikings (rival NFC North w/ my Bears)...and I would like to see the Saints in the Bowl -- even though we would have to hear how Papa Manning played for the Saints and now Peyton is playing the Saints, blah blah blah.

The only teams that have beat up on the Vikings are those with a great pass rush, not a staple of Saints D. They are opportunistic...which may be good since Favre can turn at any time and hand out interceptions at will. I think you will see a retro-early season Vikings team that will rely heavily on AP....uh AD....Adrian Peterson.....really? His initials are AP, but his nickname is AD for All Day.....kinda confusing....but I digress. I also see a big game out of ex-Gator Percy Harvin - that is if his migraines don't act up, to which I know he has some of that medicinal marijuana around to ease the pain.

The way to beat the Saints...make them one dimensional. Don't let them run -- which seems crazy that you want Brees to throw the ball. But the games that the Saints lost this year, they were not able to have a balanced attack.

This is going to be a close game...and I don't know if the Vikings will actually win but I like the points, especially if they stay at +3.5.

The quote of today is actually a campaign slogan that I created when I was a Sophomore in high school. See back then I thought I was gonna be a politician so I decided to test the waters and run for Vice President of our Junior class. My opponent was a widely popular cheerleader and my chances appeared to be very bleak. So I decided to make some very strategic moves to help increase my odds. The first move I made was to hire a Campaign Manager. This decision was very a tough one but I went with the ever popular William Raymond Millay III. I think he actually threatened me and said I couldn't cheat in Spanish class anymore if I chose someone else.
